San Diego Restaurants

The Great Maple (University Heights)
  • The beignets are delicious
  • Mom had a Bloody Mary with an octopus tentacle, Melissa had an original Bloody Mary. Both were good, but spicy.
  • We were there on St. Patrick's Day, so had the corned beef hash. Delish. It had brussels sprouts, potatoes, onions, etc.
Costa Brava (Pacific Beach area)
  • We were there for happy hour.
  • $8 sangria pitchers
  • The papas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy sauce) and sausage sandwich were our favorites.
  • We also tried the lamb kabobs, mushrooms, and jamon dumpling things.
Luce
  • Hard to get a table, but they always have room at the "shared" tables.
  • Delish cocktails
  • Good carnitas tacos, bruscetta, and ceviche.
Barleymash (Gaslamp)
  • Good happy hour Old Fashioneds
  • Delicious shrimp appetizer
Cafe 21 (Gaslamp)
  • They have a Bloody Mary with grilled cheese sandwiches on it!
  • They have both sangria and mimosa flights, so you can try 6 different kinds.
  • During happy hour, you can get 4 apps for $21. We had:
    • Mac and cheese
    • Cheese fondue
    • Avocado fries
    • Poke tuna
  • We also had their bread pudding. It was ok, but not great.
  • Overall, this place was cool because we sat outside in downtown San Diego, but the food wasn't the greatest.
Sammy's

  • Labneh and Pita Bread - Nothing more to say!

La Cocina (Temecula)
Wilson Creek Winery Bubble Brunch (Temecula)
